Gaming Enforcement

The Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) is Florida’s only statewide law enforcement agency solely dedicated to investigating and dismantling illegal gambling operations. As a division of the Florida Gaming Control Commission, DGE enforces Florida’s gaming statutes across all 67 counties, ensuring the integrity of the regulated gaming industry and protecting the public from the wide-reaching harms of unlawful gambling. From businesses operating illegal slot machines and unsanctioned poker rooms, to online gambling rings and animal cruelty-based gambling such as dog fighting and bush racing, DGE agents aggressively investigate and pursue those who seek to harm people and communities through their unlawful endeavors to profit through criminal gambling enterprises.

The Division is composed of 18 sworn law enforcement officers who bring deep expertise in complex criminal investigations, gambling laws, and interagency coordination. These officers are supported by a team of 11 highly skilled intelligence and support professionals, including criminal analysts, an accreditation manager, an evidence and property custodian, and a business manager. This combined force of professionals allows the Division to operate with precision and efficiency, executing investigations, managing intelligence, maintaining evidentiary integrity, and supporting administrative operations essential to the mission.

Through its enforcement, intelligence, education, and outreach efforts, the Division works closely with prosecutors, municipal officials, the public, and law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels to combat illegal gambling in every form. The Division also leads specialized training programs for law enforcement personnel and prosecutors statewide, enhancing the collective ability to identify, investigate, and successfully prosecute gambling crimes. With a strong commitment to professionalism, integrity, and public safety, DGE is a critical pillar in safeguarding Florida’s communities from the social and criminal harms posed by illegal gambling.
